Believers can know they are part of the elect through their faith in Christ and the assurance of salvation.
Assurance of being part of the elect comes through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, evidenced by faith and repentance. The Bible teaches that those chosen by God will exhibit the fruit of the Spirit and an enduring faith in Christ (Isaiah 41:14). The assurance can also stem from an understanding of God's promises—He will not forsake His people and will come to help them as the Holy One of Israel. For those who see themselves as 'worms' in need of a Redeemer, the assurance of being part of the elect is both humbling and freeing, as it ultimately rests not on one's merit but solely on God's sovereign grace.
