How do we know we are recipients of God's mercy?

Answered in 1 source

We can discern our reception of God's mercy by assessing our inclination to show mercy to others (James 2:10).

The evidence of being a recipient of God's mercy is distinctly reflected in our ability to show mercy towards others. James 2:10 warns that if we are guilty of one sin, we are guilty of all, reminding us that grace cannot coexist with habitual, unrepentant sin. Additionally, God's children are characterized by a transformation that compels them to demonstrate kindness and compassion, as we are called to imitate our Heavenly Father. The ability to forgive and show compassion indicates a heart redeemed by Christ’s mercy. Therefore, the presence of mercy in our lives is a litmus test for our standing in grace, affirming that we have fled from judgment to embrace the hope offered in Christ.
