How do we know we are righteous before God?

Answered in 4 sources

We know we are righteous before God because of the imputed righteousness of Christ, which is received through faith.

Believers can be assured of their righteousness before God through the doctrine of imputation, where the perfect righteousness of Christ is credited to them. This is evident in Romans 5:1, stating that 'being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.' Righteousness is not based on personal achievement but on faith in the sacrificial work of Jesus. Job highlights this when he claims to have put on righteousness, suggesting that his acceptance before God was not inherently his but derived from a divine provision. Therefore, believers rest in the knowledge that their standing before God is secure in Christ, whose obedience satisfies divine justice.
