How do we know we are saved because we belong to Christ?

Believers can have confidence in their salvation because it is founded on the sovereign will of God and the sacrificial work of Jesus Christ. This assurance is not based on feelings or personal merit but on the solid ground of the Gospel which teaches that those who come to Christ seeking forgiveness will be accepted.
