How do we know we are sinners?

Answered in 7 sources

We recognize our sinfulness through the Scriptures, which reveal our total depravity and need for God's mercy.

Scripture makes it clear that we are all sinners by nature, as seen in Psalm 14:1, which states, 'The fool has said in his heart, there is no God.' This highlights the corrupt nature of humanity, as Paul also writes in Romans 3:23 that 'all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.' By examining ourselves in light of God's Word, we understand our fallen state and the impossibility of achieving righteousness on our own. Thus, we need the transforming grace of God to declare us righteous in Christ.
