How do we know we are sinners in need of grace?

Answered in 1 source

Recognizing our sinfulness comes from the Holy Spirit convicting us of our need for God's mercy and righteousness.

The awareness of our sin and our need for grace is not something we come to on our own but is divinely revealed to us through the Holy Spirit. John 16:8 explains that the Spirit convicts the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment, emphasizing that the foundational sin is unbelief in Christ. Only when the Spirit opens our eyes do we understand our true condition as sinners who have no righteousness of our own and cannot meet God's holy standards. This understanding humbles us and drives us to seek grace and mercy through faith in Jesus Christ.
