How do we know we are spiritually dead without Christ?

Answered in 1 source

We are spiritually dead due to the sin of Adam and cannot respond to the things of God until we receive new life from Christ.

The sermon explains that we are declared dead in our sins, a condition that stems from the fall of Adam (Romans 5:12). This spiritual death is not metaphorical; rather, it is a real state that affects our ability to respond to God's truth (John 3:19). Our failure to respond to the gospel confirms this state of spiritual death. Until God imparts life to us through His word, we remain unresponsive and blind to His truth. Only when life is given by Christ can we understand and believe (John 1:13).
