How do we know we are spiritually dead without Christ?

Answered in 2 sources

Scripture states that outside of Christ, we are dead in our trespasses and sins, highlighting our total inability to please God.

The Bible categorically states that outside of Christ, we are spiritually dead in our sins (Ephesians 2:1). This condition reflects complete separation from God, underlining the total depravity that exists in every human heart. The sermon emphasizes that this spiritual death manifests in our inability to pursue God or righteousness on our own. Like the man in the Gadarenes, who was literally enslaved by demons, every person without Christ is in bondage to sin, blinded by the deceit of the enemy, and incapable of attaining true spiritual life. It is only through Christ’s regenerating grace that one can be made alive.
