How do we know we are spiritually wretched?

Answered in 1 source

The realization of our wretchedness comes from recognizing our ongoing struggle with sin, as expressed in Romans 7:24.

We come to know our spiritual wretchedness through the internal conflict that every believer experiences. The Apostle Paul’s lament, 'O wretched man that I am!' (Romans 7:24), highlights the struggle between the desire to obey God and the propensity to sin that remains in the flesh. This conflict reveals our true condition; while we are made alive in Christ, our flesh continues to struggle with sinful desires. It is crucial for Christians to acknowledge that, despite being regenerated, the flesh has not improved. Understanding this can lead us to genuine repentance and reliance on Christ for strength and deliverance.
