How do we know we are true children of God?

Answered in 1 source

We know we are true children of God by our love for Christ and our yearning to be in His presence.

In examining the story of the two harlots before King Solomon, we see a representation of genuine believers versus those who are not. The true mother of the living child called Solomon 'my Lord' and earnestly begged for mercy, which demonstrated her true connection to her son. Similarly, true children of God are marked by their heartfelt pleas to Christ, recognizing Him as their Lord. This calling on the Lord’s name reflects a genuine faith, as evidenced in Romans 10:13, which assures us that 'whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.' Additionally, the indwelling of the Holy Spirit assures believers of their status as children of God, affirming the intimate relationship they share with Him.
