How do we know we are vessels of mercy?

Answered in 2 sources

We are vessels of mercy if God has called us according to His purpose and grace, which is revealed through the gospel.

In Romans 9, Paul discusses the calling of God and how He designates certain individuals as vessels of mercy. Those who experience God’s effectual call, which is not based on their works but solely on His purpose and grace, can be assured of their status as vessels of mercy. The signs of being a vessel of mercy include a heart transformed by grace, the ability to hear and respond to the gospel, and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, which ensures that the treasure of understanding is placed within our clay pots (2 Corinthians 4:7). Thus, the assurance of being a vessel of mercy lies in recognizing God's sovereign work in our lives.
