How do we know we are worthy to participate in the Lord's Supper?

Answered in 1 source

We are deemed worthy to participate in the Lord's Supper through our faith in Christ, not by our own works or worthiness.

The concept of worthiness in relation to the Lord's Supper is fundamentally about recognizing Christ as our only worthiness. According to the sermon, the only basis on which a sinner may come to the table is through faith in Jesus Christ, who has accomplished redemption fully and finally for His people. It is not about the absence of sin or previous failures but recognizing our unworthiness outside of Christ and trusting in His finished work. Thus, every believer who acknowledges their need for Christ and places their trust in Him is invited to partake. Paul's exhortation to self-examine (1 Corinthians 11:28) stresses the importance of understanding one's relationship with Christ rather than assessing moral merit, assuring believers that their acceptance hinges on the sufficiency of Christ alone.
