How do we know wealth can lead to spiritual dangers?

The Bible consistently cautions against the spiritual dangers associated with wealth. James 5:1-6 illustrates how rich individuals, instead of using their resources for good, often engage in sinful behaviors, including oppression of the poor. The warning against rich individuals is echoed in Matthew 19:24, where Jesus states that it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God. This serves to show that riches can be a barrier to humility and reliance on God. Riches cannot provide spiritual sustenance or security; rather, they can cause individuals to become complacent and neglect their spiritual responsibilities.
