How do we partake in God's love according to the Bible?

Answered in 1 source

We partake in God's love by being united with Christ and receiving His Spirit, which enables us to love others.

According to 1 John 4:10-12, our ability to partake in God's love is directly tied to our relationship with Christ. It is not merely a matter of human effort, but a divine work initiated by God. As believers, we are endowed with the Holy Spirit, who fills our hearts with love, enabling us to love God and one another authentically. This participation in God’s love is also reflected in the mutual indwelling described in 1 John 4:13, where it's made clear that we know we dwell in Him because He has given us His Spirit. The result is a transformative experience; the love that flows from God into the believer’s heart becomes the foundation for how they love others. So, by receiving Christ and His Spirit, we are empowered to love in ways that reflect His nature—selfless, sacrificial, and unconditional—emphasizing the importance of our fellowship with Him as the source of our love.
