How do we receive Christ according to Scripture?

Answered in 1 source

According to Scripture, we receive Christ by hearing the Word and believing it in our hearts.

Receiving Christ involves both hearing the gospel and responding to it by faith. In Proverbs 4:4, we see a call to 'let thine heart retain my words,' which illustrates how important it is to hear and hold onto the teachings of Christ. When the gospel is heard, and the Spirit works in the believer's heart, they are invited to lay hold of Christ by faith. This response is not passive; it requires an active engagement with the Word of God, discerning the invitations and promises within it, leading to a personal acceptance of Christ as Lord and Savior. As we hear the gospel message, we are urged to respond with belief and faith, affirming our union with Christ through His grace.
