How do we receive the Holy Spirit according to the Bible?

Answered in 3 sources

Believers receive the Holy Spirit as a promise from Jesus, which empowers them for ministry and guides them in truth.

According to John 14:16-17, Jesus promised to send the Holy Spirit after his ascension. The Holy Spirit acts as the Comforter and leads believers into all truth, teaching them and bringing to remembrance all that Christ taught. In Acts 1:5, Jesus tells his disciples they will be baptized with the Holy Spirit, signifying full immersion into the life and work of Christ. This is not merely a one-time event but an ongoing relationship with the Holy Spirit who empowers Christians for witness and sanctification in their daily lives.
