How do we recover from the pain of sin according to the Bible?

Answered in 1 source

Recovery from the pain of sin comes through sincere confession and faith in the mercy of God.

In Psalm 38, the psalmist acknowledges his sin and its painful consequences while simultaneously expressing hope in God for deliverance. He states, 'In Thee, O Lord, do I hope; Thou wilt hear, O Lord my God.' This illustrates the path to recovery: recognizing one's sinfulness, confessing it to God, and relying on His mercy. God delights in mercy and is able to heal the burdens that sin brings upon the soul. The comfort found in prayer and repentance, coupled with faith in God's forgiveness through Christ, provides a means of healing and restoration.
