How do we resist sin according to the Bible?

Answered in 1 source

We resist sin by relying on the grace of God through Christ and seeking to live according to the spirit, as outlined in the Scriptures.

The Bible teaches that resisting sin is not merely about willpower but about understanding who we are in Christ and the grace afforded to us. Ephesians makes it clear that we cannot achieve righteousness through our own strength; it is only by the grace given to us that we can walk in the light and avoid the darkness of sin. When we recognize our identity as children of God, we see that our motivation for righteous living stems from love, not fear. This transformation, achieved through the Holy Spirit, allows us to actively resist sin by seeking that which is pleasing to God, scrutinizing our actions and thoughts through the lens of His Word.
