How do we see God's mercy in the Bible?

Answered in 2 sources

God's mercy is most clearly revealed in Christ, as seen in His love for sinners and His willingness to forgive them.

Throughout Scripture, God's mercy is prominently displayed, particularly in the work of Jesus Christ. In Luke 19:10, Jesus states, 'For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.' This mission underscores God's heart for sinners—He does not desire their destruction but their redemption. The parables of the lost sheep and the prodigal son further illustrate God's merciful nature, showing how He joyfully welcomes back those who repent. Additionally, in Ephesians 2:4-5, Paul reminds us that because of His great love, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions. These instances illustrate that God's mercy is not just a passive trait; it actively reaches out to save and restore us.
