How do we subdue the old man in us?

Answered in 1 source

The old man is subdued through walking in the Spirit, which prevents us from fulfilling the lusts of the flesh.

The process of subduing the old man of sin is fundamentally through the guidance and power of the Holy Spirit. Galatians 5:16 advises believers to 'walk in the Spirit,' indicating that by adhering to the Spirit's leading, one will find strength against the sin-wrought desires of the flesh. This requires continual reliance on prayer and the preaching of Christ’s gospel, which continually reminds us of our need for grace and enables us to reject the temptations of our old nature.
