How do we use the law lawfully according to scripture?

Answered in 1 source

The law is used lawfully by understanding it guides us to recognize sin and leads us to Christ, not as a means to obtain righteousness.

Scripture teaches that the law serves a vital role in defining sin and directing us to Christ for salvation. Romans 7:12 states that the law is holy, just, and good, yet recognizes that it exposes our sinful nature. The proper use of the law is not as a means of attaining righteousness; rather, its role is to show us our need for grace, to illustrate our inability to meet its demands, and ultimately to bring us to faith in Christ. For believers, the law should remind us of God's holiness and guide our love for Him and others, reflecting the true intent behind the commandment, which is charity or love.
