How do works relate to faith in salvation?

Answered in 1 source

While works are evidence of faith, they do not contribute to our salvation, which is solely by Christ's works.

In the context of sovereign grace theology, works are the fruit of genuine faith rather than a basis for salvation. James 2:26 states that faith without works is dead, emphasizing that true faith is always accompanied by good works predestined by God. However, these works are not the means by which we earn salvation; rather, they manifest the transformative work of Christ within us. Our reliance must be on Christ's perfect obedience and sacrificial death, which alone accomplishes our redemption. Thus, while works are essential, they serve as evidence of our faith and not the grounds for our acceptance with God.
