How does acknowledging our fault lead to grace?

Answered in 1 source

Recognizing our sins as our own faults creates a condition for experiencing God's grace.

Acknowledging our faults is a prerequisite for receiving God's grace. God's grace is unmerited favor, and it flows to those who recognize their need for it. When we admit our guilt and the reality of our sinfulness, we position ourselves as candidates for mercy. This is illustrated in the parable of the publican, who pleaded for mercy acknowledging his guilt rather than seeking entitlement. When we own our failures, we can trust that God's grace will meet us in our weakness. This truth is demonstrated in the Scriptures where the humble are lifted up, and the contrite heart is favored by God, culminating in His merciful response to those who confess their sins.
