How does Christ's ascension relate to His current work?

Answered in 1 source

Christ's ascension allows Him to intercede for His people and call out His elect for salvation (Romans 8:34, John 17:2).

Christ's ascension plays a vital role in His current work as our High Priest and Savior. After ascending, He became the one who intercedes for us, as highlighted in Romans 8:34, which states, 'Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.' This intercession assures believers that their sins are continually covered by His sacrifice. Additionally, Christ actively calls out His elect to salvation, as He stated in John 17:2, where He has authority over all flesh to grant eternal life to those given to Him. His ascension enables Him to orchestrate events and circumstances in the world for the purpose of gathering His people.
