How does Christ's death bring us to God?

Christ's death plays a crucial role in our reconciliation with God. In 1 Peter 3:18, it states that He died to bring us to God. This means that His sacrificial death removed the barrier of sin that alienates us from God. Prior to His atoning work, humanity was in enmity with God due to our sinful nature.
