How does Christ's innocence relate to our salvation?

Answered in 1 source

Christ’s innocence is crucial to our salvation because He bore our sins, making us righteous through His purity.

Christ's role as the innocent Lamb of God is central to the gospel, as emphasized in 1 Peter 2:22, which states that He committed no sin. This perfection is vital for our salvation; He had to be sinless to serve as an acceptable sacrifice. By bearing our sins in His own body, Christ transfers His righteousness to us, fulfilling the law's requirements. Thus, believers are deemed righteous not because of their own merit, but solely on the basis of Christ’s completed work, allowing us to stand before God without condemnation.
