How does Christ's righteousness apply to believers?

Answered in 4 sources

Christ's righteousness is imputed to believers, allowing them to stand before God justified and accepted, not based on their works but on His grace.

The righteousness of Christ is of utmost importance for believers, as it is through this imputed righteousness that they are justified before God. In 2 Corinthians 5:21, Paul states, 'For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.' This radical exchange means that our sins were placed upon Christ, and in turn, His perfect righteousness covers us. This is the core of the Gospel: that we can have peace with God, not through our deeds, but through the grace extended to us in Jesus Christ. Believers can confidently approach God, knowing they are viewed through the lens of Christ's perfect work.
