How does Christ's victory over sin encourage believers?

Answered in 1 source

Christ's victory over sin assures believers that they have been liberated from bondage and empowers them to trust in Him.

The victory of Christ over sin is foundational to the assurance of every believer. As stated in Hebrews 2:14, Jesus shared in our humanity to destroy the one who has the power of death, which is the devil. This victory means that our sins are fully atoned for, and the believer holds true freedom from the bondage of sin. Consequently, when we are faced with the temptations and struggles of our old sinful nature, we can confidently ‘trust in Thee’ knowing that Jesus has not only defeated sin but has also secured our eternal salvation. This empowers us to live in faith, despite our ongoing struggles.
