How does communion with God relate to Christ?

Answered in 1 source

Communion with God is realized through our relationship with Christ, who is our peace and sustenance.

Communion with God is fundamentally based on our relationship with Christ as our mediator and peace offering. In 1 John 1:3, we see that our fellowship with one another is rooted in our fellowship with the Father and His Son. This communion is vital for spiritual nourishment; just as the priests shared a meal from the sacrifice, we share in Christ who is the bread of life. The shared meal symbolizes our unity with God through Christ. Without this relationship, we cannot have true fellowship with God. Jesus emphasized this in John 6:56, saying, 'Whoever feeds on my flesh and drinks my blood abides in me, and I in him.' Hence, our daily communion is rooted in Christ, who sustains and nourishes our spiritual lives.
