How does effectual grace operate in salvation?

Answered in 1 source

Effectual grace ensures that those whom God calls will respond to His invitation to salvation.

Effectual grace is the divine influence of the Holy Spirit that causes the chosen individuals to respond positively to God’s call. This is illustrated in John 3:8, where Jesus compares the work of the Spirit to the wind, emphasizing its sovereignty and His control over regeneration. The distinction between a general call to everyone and an effectual call to God's elect is critical; the latter is guaranteed to lead to a genuine conversion. As Romans 8:30 teaches, those whom God predestines, He also calls, justifying and ultimately glorifying them. Thus, effectual grace confirms that God's purpose in salvation will never fail.
