God awakens sleeping Christians through the Holy Spirit, His Word, and sometimes through afflicting circumstances.
God employs various methods to awaken Christians who have fallen asleep in their faith. Firstly, the Holy Spirit brings a realization of God's love to our hearts, stirring us from indifference and warming our spirits towards Him. Secondly, the ministry of the Word includes rebuke, which serves to awaken believers from their spiritual slumber; Scripture is profitable for doctrine, reproof, and instruction (2 Timothy 3:16). Lastly, God can use afflicting providences, situations that invoke reflection and urgency, to nudge Christians back to a vigilant and active faith. As believers respond to these awakenings, they can regain focus on their relationship with Christ and their mission in the world.
