How does God deliver His people from idolatry?

Answered in 1 source

God delivers His people from idolatry by regenerating their hearts and redirecting their affections toward Himself through the Gospel.

According to Joshua 24, God reminds His people of their past and His faithful deliverance from idolatry. It is God who intervenes in the hearts of His chosen, effectually removing their inclination toward idols and enabling them to serve Him. The Gospel of Christ serves as the means by which this heart change occurs, as believers are compelled to see their idols' vanity and to turn to the living God. This process is not about mere willpower but about God's grace transforming the heart, granting the desire and ability to worship Him alone.
