How does God direct our hearts?

In the Christian faith, God actively directs the hearts of His people through the work of the Holy Spirit. In 2 Thessalonians 3:5, Paul prays that 'the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God and into the patient waiting for Christ.' This direction involves both an inward transformation and an outward expression of love, which is intrinsic to the believer's relationship with God.
