How does God enable us to believe?

Answered in 1 source

God enables belief through His Spirit, who brings the dead to life, allowing for faith in Christ.

According to John 6:63, it is the Spirit that quickeneth or brings to life. This is essential because, in our natural state, we are dead in trespasses and sins (Ephesians 2:1). God's grace is what initiates our faith, as we cannot believe on our own. The work of the Holy Spirit in regenerating our hearts is crucial for producing genuine belief in Jesus. In our own flesh, we reject God, but once God’s Spirit creates new life within us, we are drawn to Christ and enabled to trust in Him fully. Hence, the ability to believe in Jesus stems from God's sovereign grace toward His elect.
