How does God prune us to be more fruitful?

Answered in 1 source

God prunes us through trials and discipline, enabling us to grow stronger in faith and produce more fruit.

In John 15:2, Jesus teaches that 'every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.' This pruning process is often uncomfortable, involving trials and challenges in our lives that drive us to depend more on Christ. Through these difficulties, believers gain deeper spiritual insight, strength, and faith. The purpose of pruning is to remove the distractions and hindrances that prevent us from fully participating in God's work and bearing abundant fruit. Thus, the trials we face are not signs of God's absence but rather His loving engagement in our spiritual growth.
