How does God refine His people?

Answered in 1 source

God refines His people through trials and tribulations that reveal their true nature and draw them closer to Him.

The process of refinement is an essential aspect of God's work in the lives of His people. Just as silver and gold must be tested and purified in fire, believers experience trials that serve to uncover the dross within their hearts (Proverbs 17:3). These trials are divinely appointed to purify faith, making it more precious than gold (1 Peter 1:6-7). Through adversity, God demonstrates to believers their inherent weaknesses and dependence on His mercy. As they confront the reality of their sinful nature and the sufficiency of Christ’s sacrifice, they learn to cast themselves upon His grace, which strengthens and matures their faith. Ultimately, this refining process is for their good, shaping them into vessels of honor prepared for His service.
