How does God respond to sin in our lives?

Answered in 1 source

God responds to sin by demanding repentance and offering restoration through Christ.

The biblical account teaching that God takes sin very seriously is significant for understanding His nature. After Achan's transgression, God made it clear that sin would not be tolerated, as illustrated by Achan's punishment. However, God's responses are always coupled with mercy and redemption. Following the removal of sin, as seen in Joshua 8, God restores His people and grants them victory. This foreshadows Christ's atoning work, where God made a way for sinners to be reconciled to Him through Jesus' sacrifice. The ultimate expression of God's response to sin is found at the cross, where the just died for the unjust, enabling believers to experience forgiveness and restoration.
