How does God's chastening relate to His love for His people?

Answered in 1 source

God's chastening is a demonstration of His love, as He disciplines those He loves for their spiritual growth.

The concept of chastening is intricately linked to God's love for His children. In Lamentations and throughout Scripture, we see that God does not punish His people in a penal sense, as Christ has borne the penalty for their sins. Instead, His discipline is an expression of love intended for correction and spiritual growth (Hebrews 12:6). This chastening, while painful, yields 'the peaceable fruit of righteousness' (Hebrews 12:11), reminding us that God's dealings are ultimately for our good, moving us towards greater conformity to Christ and deeper fellowship with Him.
