How does God’s discipline show His love?

Answered in 1 source

God's discipline is a sign of His love, guiding us toward holiness and righteousness.

Hebrews 12:6 states, 'For whom the Lord loves He chastens, and scourges every son whom He receives.' This discipline is not punishment in a punitive sense, but rather a paternal correction that aims to produce holiness and righteousness in His children. When God allows trials and hardships, He is refining us, drawing us closer to Himself, and teaching us to rely on His strength. The pain of chastening is a temporary state that yields the 'peaceable fruit of righteousness,' confirming our identity as His beloved children and affirming His faithful love towards us.
