How does God's grace affect our ability to believe?

Answered in 1 source

God's grace is essential as it enables elect individuals to believe in Christ for salvation.

The doctrine of total depravity teaches that due to sin, humanity is unable to turn to God on their own. This condition necessitates the grace of God, which is given freely to His elect. Hebrews 8:10 confirms that God will put His laws into the hearts of His people, demonstrating His active role in salvation. Until God grants a new heart and a spirit to believe, individuals remain spiritually dead and incapable of responding to Him. Thus, it is through His sovereign grace that some are drawn to faith in Christ and come to recognize Him as the way, the truth, and the life.
