How does God's grace operate in salvation?

Answered in 3 sources

God's grace in salvation operates as an unmerited gift bestowed upon those He has chosen (Ephesians 2:8-9).

The grace of God is foundational to the doctrine of salvation. Ephesians 2:8-9 informs us that 'For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.' This highlights that salvation is not earned or deserved, but rather freely given. God's grace is a sovereign act of His will, whereby He chooses to save unworthy sinners. It is through His grace that we are able to respond in faith to the gospel. The operation of grace in our lives involves both God's initiative in drawing us to Himself and the transformative work of the Holy Spirit, making us new creations in Christ. Understanding grace allows us to see our complete dependence on God for our salvation and not on our own merits.
