How does God's mercy manifest in the face of human wrath?

Answered in 1 source

God's mercy restrains human wrath and works through it to accomplish His purposes and save His people.

In Psalm 76, we see that God's sovereignty extends even to the wrath of man. Despite human sinfulness and anger, God's mercy restrains the full expression of this wrath. For instance, when wicked men conspired against Christ, their evil intentions were used to fulfill God's redemptive plan. This demonstrates that God's mercy not only restrains sin but also transforms it into a vehicle for His glory. Romans 5:20 states, 'where sin abounded, grace did much more abound,' showcasing how God employs even the worst human actions to lead to His ultimate purposes—sharing the assurance of salvation with His elect.
