How does God's sovereignty bring comfort to believers?

Answered in 1 source

God's sovereignty assures believers that nothing can thwart His plans for salvation.

The sovereignty of God is a source of great comfort because it guarantees that His purposes will be fulfilled. God's resolve to save His elect cannot be overcome by any external circumstances or human failures, as stated in 2 Timothy 1:9, where Paul elaborates, 'Who hath saved us, and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace.' This means that every aspect of salvation is the result of God’s eternal purpose, ensuring that even in trials or uncertainties, believers can trust that God is actively working for their good and ultimate salvation. As emphasized in the sermon, this assurance allows believers to give thanks for their salvation, recognizing that it originates entirely from God’s grace and love.
