How does God's sovereignty relate to the suffering of the wicked?

Answered in 1 source

God's sovereignty ensures that the wicked will face judgment and suffering as part of His divine justice.

God's sovereignty is crucial in understanding how justice is administered. In Nahum 1:3, it reveals that the Lord's power and timing will ultimately bring judgment upon the wicked. His sovereignty guarantees that evil will not go unpunished and that every act of rebellion against Him will be followed by divine justice. While God’s patience allows time for repentance, it does not negate the reality of His judgment. As such, those who oppose God are warned not to take His mercy for granted, for there is an appointed day where His fierce anger will manifest against all unrighteousness. Thus, the suffering of the wicked is both a result of their own actions and a display of God’s sovereign justice.
