How does God show mercy to undeserving sinners?

In Ezekiel 16, we see the demonstration of God's mercy vividly illustrated when He encounters the helpless infant and chooses to act with compassion. This parallels the New Testament representations of Christ as the Good Samaritan, who intervenes in the lives of the broken and needy. Salvation is presented as an act of divine grace where the Lord engages with us in our wretched state, heals us, and brings us into a loving relationship.
