How does God teach us to pray?

Answered in 2 sources

God teaches us to pray by revealing our needs and drawing us to Himself through His Word and providence.

The act of prayer is fundamentally rooted in our relationship with God, and it is He who teaches us to pray. In 1 Kings 8:38, Solomon implies that as we come to understand the plague of our own hearts, we are moved to spread forth our hands in prayer and supplication. The process of learning to pray involves an acknowledgment of our needs, prompted by the Holy Spirit, who convicts us of sin and reveals our dependence on God's grace. God’s various dealings in our lives serve as a scaffolding for our prayer life; trials, tribulations, and the afflictions of life bring us to seek His face earnestly. Moreover, Jesus Himself, during His earthly ministry, taught His disciples to pray, exemplifying the importance of relying on God's guidance and authority through prayer. Ultimately, it is through God's nurturing of our hearts that we are led to a true understanding of prayer as a means of communicating with our Creator.
