How does grace enable us to follow Christ?

Grace is the unmerited favor of God that enables us to follow Christ effectively. Without grace, we would remain in our sinful state, incapable of responding to God's call. In the call for believers to follow Him, there is an implicit acknowledgment that it is God's initiating grace that opens our eyes and hearts. As stated in John 21:19, the call to follow comes with divine enablement. It is by His grace that we are compelled to leave behind our old ways and embrace a new life of obedience and commitment to Christ.
