How does grace relate to our sanctification?

Answered in 1 source

Grace is foundational for our sanctification because it is through God's grace that we are united with Christ and made holy.

Sanctification is an act of God’s grace in the life of a believer, illustrating that we do not achieve holiness by our works but receive it through our union with Christ. As noted in 1 Corinthians 1:30, Christ being made our sanctification means that the holiness required by God is provided entirely by Him. This grace enables believers to understand and accept their identity in Christ, granting them the power and desire to live according to God’s will. Furthermore, true sanctification flows from recognizing our complete dependence on God’s grace, which transforms us from within, and reflects the reality of Christ’s righteousness in our daily lives.
