How does grace relate to righteousness according to the Bible?

Answered in 1 source

Grace and righteousness are closely related; grace allows sinners to be declared righteous before God through faith in Jesus Christ.

In Scripture, grace is intricately linked to the concept of righteousness. Romans 5:21 teaches that 'as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.' This indicates that grace is the means by which believers receive the gift of righteousness. Sinners, once under the dominion of sin, are made righteous through the substitutionary atonement of Christ, who fulfilled the law on our behalf. Thus, grace transforms our standing before God, substituting our unrighteousness with Christ’s righteousness, enabling us to stand blameless before Him.
