How does Jesus' baptism relate to the concept of grace?

Answered in 1 source

Jesus' baptism illustrates the grace of God in initiating redemption through Christ's humility.

The act of Jesus being baptized highlights the astounding grace of God. Though sinless, He chose to identify with sinners by accepting baptism, thus demonstrating humility and a willingness to fulfill all righteousness. In doing so, He points us to the grace that flows from His ultimate sacrifice on the cross. His immersion into baptism symbolizes the greater immersion into the wrath He would endure, as He took the sin of His people upon Himself. This relationship between baptism and grace reveals the depth of God's love: that Christ, in his willing submission and suffering, has made a way for sinners to be reunited with Him. Understanding this connection enriches our grasp of the nature of Christ and the grace that Christians are called to live out.
