How does Jesus' death relate to drawing people to Him?

Answered in 1 source

Jesus' death on the cross serves as the means by which He draws all His true followers to Himself.

In John 12:32, Jesus states, 'And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.' This lifting up refers to His crucifixion, which is crucial for the drawing of all those the Father has given to Him. While it may seem that not all are drawn, the 'all' signifies those who are called according to God's elective purpose—those chosen before the foundation of the world. The work of the Holy Spirit is instrumental in this drawing, convincing sinners of their need for salvation, leading them to come freely to Christ, who is the door to eternal life. True believers are thus assured of their place in this drawing process, as they respond to the Spirit's call.
